General Operative

Job title: General Operative
Based: Upton on Severn
Reports to: Operations Manager
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Work individually or as part of a team, always maintaining high levels of delivery and customer service in the following activities:

    • BG 800 installation/removal

    • Other crash cushion/terminal & or road restraint system installation

    • Driving and equipment operation

    • Yard duties.

  • When interacting with customers, outside agencies and public, maintain a courteous, professional, helpful approach and response. If appropriate, route questions and enquiries to your Team Leader. Uphold all health & safety requirements and those specific to the role.

  • Efficiency of individual work through-put including checking for accuracy and quality as relevant to a specific task.

  • Contribute to the overall safe, efficient, and productive team and environment, including housekeeping tasks.

  • Actively participate in the ‘team’, cooperating with the management, sharing ideas that may make the team more effective. 

  • Maintain tools and equipment, reporting any deficiencies or defects to Team Leader Keep accurate records of labour hours and materials usage including the completion and submission of paperwork in a timely, legible and truthful manner.

  • Attending training courses as required, working towards professional qualifications. 

  • Use all plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and complying with current legislation.

Essential Skills, Competencies, Qualifications and Behaviours:
  • Full Driving licence

  • Flexibility regarding shift patterns

  • Excellent teamwork skills 

  • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude

Non-essential, (training will be provided):
  • CSCS card

  • Hi hab crane operator’s licence. 

  • Slinger, banksman.
