As part of our commitment to ensuring excellent levels of customer service and technical support as we continue to drive sustainable growth, Highway Care has been investing in our team, hand picking professionals with the knowledge and can-do thinking our customers need.

The latest professional to join our team is Ryan Croft, an experienced business development manager with extensive experience of delivering growth programmes, building customer partnerships and working collaboratively to enable customers to innovate and overcome challenges. Originally from South Africa, Ryan moved to the UK in 2020 and joins Highway Care from the traffic management division of a large construction and civil engineering group, where he worked closely with the operations director to deliver an ambitious customer acquisition and growth programme. During his three-year tenure in that role, he built customer partnerships that resulted in a 60% growth in customers for the traffic management division and he is now excited to bring that proactive approach to Highway Care.

Ryan’s remit will be to work on the barrier side of the Highway Care business, and work collaboratively with colleagues across our business development team to help support our commercial strategy. He has already highly embedded in our business, understanding our entire product portfolio and meeting customers face to face, across the UK.

Ryan commented: “Since early in my career, my focus has always been on building partnerships with customers by getting under the skin of their business, understanding what makes them tick and finding solutions to the challenges they face.

“Highway Care has an excellent reputation as an innovator that invests in R&D, product development and expertise. I am excited to combine that customer-focused culture with my technical understanding and creative thinking, helping our customers access the solutions they need and achieve their safety and operational ambitions.”

Ryan’s new role follows the recent appointment of fellow business development manager, Melanie Powell, whose remit includes our SMA range of crash cushions, our Tertu range of TimberRail vehicle restraint systems, and our Highway Care security products. Melanie also has a proven track record in the highways sector across previous business development and contract management roles, bringing excellent industry contacts and a wealth of knowledge to the business.

General manager, Kevin Davies, added: “We are delighted to have attracted professionals of this calibre to our business development team, to help us deliver both our strategic objectives and continuous improvement for our customers.

“For us, business development is not about increasing the number of customers on our database, but about providing a level of service and innovation that makes us the go-to choice. Both of these new hires will help us in delivering on that goal.”
