National Apprenticeship Week 2021

Updated: Aug 5, 2021

In celebration of #NationalApprenticeshipWeek, we'd like to introduce our ambitious #apprentices here at Highway Care. In an evolving and developing climate, their current contributions within their respective fields have not only progressed their own career development, but also enhanced Highway Care's internal knowledge and attributes. Apprenticeships are not only valuable to the individuals, but also have a beneficial impact on the company as a whole.

Jade Daniels Finance

"I joined Highway Care in February 2020 looking to extend my knowledge in Accountancy and gain the required qualifications in order to progress in my career. Highway Care offered me a role as a Finance Apprentice to learn all roles and aspects within the finance department while I am studying toward a Level 3 AAT Assistant Accountant qualification.

I am completing my Apprenticeship, alongside Highway Care with First Intuition who specialise in Accountancy qualifications. While learning and studying at FI, I am also completing skills and development days, which I am then able to relate my studies back to my work at Highway Care, in my own responsibilities as well as when learning and training with my colleagues.

This is very beneficial as it gives me a better understanding of what I have learnt and how it is used in working practice. Highway Care have been very supportive, giving me the time to study for upcoming exams, as well as helping me with any question and assisting me with assignments which relate to not only Finance but different areas in the Business. "

Ryan Hotchkiss Engineering

"Highway Care took me on as an apprentice in 2018. I started off in the workshop at Callow Hill where I was assembling MTP products, I learned many skills that will always be useful for the future. I progressed into the Engineering Office, where on a day-to-day basis I use 3D CAD software to design and continuously improve our products.

I had never experienced using CAD software before, so Highway Care supported me by giving me the best possible training for it. Highway Care have enrolled me onto many training courses which will help me in the future and to continuously improve my knowledge on the range of products we have in the company portfolio.

I attend college once a week, where I learn about all the different areas in Engineering, I am currently studying Material Structures, PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controllers), Project and Communications in Engineering and 3D CAD. I have previously studied Electronics, Health and Safety, Further Maths and Mechanical Principles. All of these subjects have helped me become more knowledgeable within Engineering at Highway Care."

Kathryn Goodwin Sales Executive

"My role is Graduate Sales Executive at Highway Care and I’m currently working towards my APS level 4 Sales Executive qualification with Pareto.

Highway Care have provided me a nurturing environment; exposing me to all areas and levels of the business, whilst allowing me to exercise my own agency.

Through my working apprenticeship, I have been given the tools to my make my own mark in the company and learn through the process to continue developing in the role and beyond.

I am very grateful for the support and knowledge of the team around me and look forward to a bright future at Highway Care.”

Thank you to our three apprentices for your continued efforts and support.

We wish you every success in your future career here at Highway Care.
